I hope you all had a great holiday and start to 2022.
I wanted to share a few exciting changes in Birdies for Education, Version 4! Just a reminder, your pledges will NOT be automatically renewed for Birdies 4 unless you choose to do so… so if you plan on participating again this year, please sign up again at BirdiesForEducation.com or please email karen@curriki.org.
Our first update as mentioned in my last 2 blogs, this season Birdies is moving to a calendar-year basis. The PGA Tour has its wraparound season to avoid competing with the NFL for TV coverage, but it is much easier tax and organization-wise to do it on the calendar year. So, Birdies 4 will go from September 2021 through December 2022.
Second, changes are coming to the Birdies for Education blog! This year I will continue my tournament recaps, but plan to branch out in terms of what I will write about. You will also need to be an active Birdies subscriber to read these blogs! Even a small flat donation of $5 will give you access to the Birdies Blog for the entire year, though we hope you participate more! The impetus for this is to get more people signed up, even if nominally, and to provide all of my Birdies supporters with a more in-depth and interesting look at life on the PGA Tour than the average fan… because you guys are the best!! Please EMAIL ME (maverick@curriki.org) about anything you want me to blog about, I’d love to dive into the topics you find most interesting!
Third, I am back on Instagram–follow @MavMcNealy for little glimpses into Tour Life, though all the good stuff will be on the Birdies blog!
Fourth, we will be adding some Curriki, Birdies for Education, and Team Mav gear to the Birdies store on the website–stay tuned!!
Finally, I just renewed my pledge to donate $100 for each birdie I make this season! I made 352 last year, and Birdies has raised $877k so far. This is the year we get to $1M!!
A few of the amazing things Curriki has done this year are: built an interactive video player so students can engage with videos instead of passively watching them, helped build easier-to-use authoring tools for teachers with ready-made layouts and templates, and launched several partners such as Katy ISD, Baylor University, and First Tee!
If we can get to $1M and beyond in Birdies 4, we will be able to continue to fund our team of engineers who are building out the tools that teachers have asked us for, create more content for these students and teachers, and most importantly, keep it free for everyone! Just a friendly reminder, your donations to Curriki and Birdies for Education are 100% tax-deductible.
Thanks again for all your support. Making a difference in education is something the Curriki team and I are very passionate about, and we wouldn’t be able to make this impact without all of your generous contributions of all sizes. I couldn’t be more excited to get going in 2022!
Best,
Maverick
