Mile High Birdies

Hello! Checking in from the Mile High City at a new tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour, the TPC Colorado Championship. The story this week was the golf course, which measured over 7800 yards!

The greens were rock hard (being only two years old), and the rough was very thick. There were pot bunkers with stacked sod faces all over, which were almost a full shot penalty if you hit it in them. And the most unique hole was the par3 8th hole, which was a peninsula green with water on both sides playing out towards the Lake.

The 13th (773 yards) and 14th (273 yards) holes were two of the longest holes I’ve ever played, the 13th being the longest in Korn Ferry Tour history. I hit driver-3w-Pw on this hole with the altitude, making it one of the few true three-shot par5s on the entire tour.

My game felt good, and I continued to hit the ball very solidly, but struggled on the weekend shooting 69-73-71-73 to finish in a tie for 49th. I struggled to control the distance at the altitude, and had a poor week on and around the greens. All in all it was a weird week on the golf course, where my game felt good but I just didn’t score very well. I carded 18 birdies, and my first round was bogey-free… But after that I missed way too many up-and-downs to score well.

After a few flight delays, I finally made it to the hotel in Omaha on Sunday night!
