TeamMav / BirdiesForEducation Update

Unfortunately, not every update can bring good news. Going back to February, I tore my anterior sterno-clavicular ligament at Pebble Beach. After taking three weeks off and working with my team, I felt well enough to play, making my first two cuts back. As the summer progressed, I probably got a little over-ambitious with my playing schedule, culminating in a 4-out-of-5 stretch. The rough up in Canada was extremely thick; I missed a few too many fairways, and left with an aggravated shoulder and a realization that golf is hard, but extremely hard when you’re not 100%.

I have consulted with many PTs, doctors and biomechanics experts in addition to my fantastic team, and am going to get the treatment I need over the next few months. I do not foresee myself playing again before the playoffs, and hope to be able to return sometime this fall. But my #1 goal is to be able to tee off January 2024, fully healthy, and moving in a way that will not re-injure myself again.

I am excited to make the best of this time, possibly pursuing my pilot’s instrument rating, enjoying a bit of time with my friends and family, and of course, hitting my PT hard. I know I’ll be chomping at the bit to get back out there when the time is right.
